Preventing children’s injuries during the holidays
The holidays are upon us and we all know what that means: chaos.
The holidays are a great time to bring family and friends together but it’s
important to make sure everyone is safe—especially
children. Travel, trees, decorations, fireplaces and new toys will all place
our kids at risk. The newest post on Doernbecher’s Healthy Families blog explains
how the OHSU effect can mitigate holiday hazards.
Dr. Ben Hoffman, Medical director at Tom Sargent Safety Center at
OHSU Doernbecher Children's Hospital, highlights a couple key problems that are
overlooked during the holidays and how to quickly determine whether something
will be dangerous to a child or not. Choking hazards can be determined with a TubeTest,
and household hazards with a 10-Second Rule.

family safe for the holiday visit Doernbecher’s Healthy Families blog.
Have a safe and wonderful holiday.
