Jerry Palm CBS Sports bracketology and BCS expert joins The Bald Faced Truth with John Canzano to break down the latest BCS rankings and talk BCS Bowl picture.
Jerry gives the Oregon Ducks a 95% chance that they will get the Fiesta Bowl and they will play the Big 12 champion. The only way Jerry says “that the ducks will not get the bowl game is if they get into the BCS championship, which won’t happen”.
With Oregon State bowl eligible Jerry places them with either the Holiday Bowl or the Alamo Bowl. He sees Beavers fans traveling more to see their team play then UCLA. With that in mind either Bowl would want the Beavers equally. Most likely their decision will be made after the turn out with Nicholls State.
Jerry is not excited for this new “play-off” system that will be taking effect in the next couple years. The new system will supposedly give higher ranked teams that are just out of the top four more of a chance to shoot for the BCS championship.
“It fixes absolutely nothing that’s wrong with the current system not a single thing, because you’re still leaving out teams that given an opportunity would win the play-offs. The number five team in any given year is just as good if not better then the number three team”.
Jerry believes that when Oregon is healthy they are the number 2 team in the nation. Now they have not been fully healthy for a while but they have definitely had the second best season.
Right now with many of the teams having extremely close stats and win/lose ratios it is still fuzzy who will be in the BCS championship. Not to mention there are still a few games left that could change everything up in the runnings.
