Cargo at Terminal 6

November 16, 2012, 9:00 am

There's a new labor dispute at the Port of Portland.  First it was workers at Terminal Six who were ordered by the courts to stop a work slowdown.

Now, some two dozen security guards with the Longshoremen's union have given notice.  They want a new contract by November 25th or say they'll strike.

It is the latest in a series of strong arm tactics from the union, although it denies that its trying to circumvent a court order against work slowdowns over two refrigeration jobs.

The Oregonian reports other union workers most likely won't cross their picket line, which would effectively shut down three terminals at the port and hold up millions of dollars in freight just ahead of the holiday season.
