Johnny Hekker former Oregon State Beavers punter and now in the NFL with the St. Louis Rams joined the Bald Faced Truth with John Canzano to talk about his new career as an NFL punter and discus how well his alma mater has been doing in their recent season.

Johnny has been nonstop busy with his new career as an NFL punter and has had many challenges getting used to a different life style that is NFL football. He is extremely grateful for his chance to play for an NFL team and is working very hard to keep up with his teammates. In his most recent game against the 49er’s Johnny was able to complete a few passes as QB.

“You know it felt good just to contribute any way I could to our team’s success. When my number gets called, you know as a punter you don’t get to many opportunities, so you got to complete them or else that might be the end of your throwing career. I’ve been lucky to get three straight completions”.

With Johnny breaking out fast into the NFL he gets lots of down time on the side and has been able to keep up with his Beavers. He likes to watch as many games as he can and even catch up with old teammates when he plays other NFL teams.

“They are playing amazingly, I’m just so proud to be part of Beaver nation and to be a fan. Kind of strange not being at a game, been there for 4 straight years and always been with the team. I’m with a different team now but I’ll always be a beaver fan”.

Johnny has been going up against some of the top punt returners in the country and is excited to hear more cheers from the massive crowds at NFL games and make his fans proud.
