Beaverton High Homecoming Queen Dies

Students at Beaverton High School are wearing purple today in memory of 14 year old Maddie Lauer who died Sunday after a year long battle against thyroid cancer. Purple was her favorite color. Last month a group of her friends started a word of mouth campaign to get her elected homecoming princess. She went on to become homecoming queen, the school's first freshman to win that honor. She had dreams of being a soccer goalie and a nurse. Extra counselors are on hand at the school today to help students with their loss.
