Vigil Held For Dead Bicyclist

A vigil was held Friday afternoon at the very same spot where a 28 year old bicyclist was hit by a semi truck Wednesday night. 28 year old Kathryn Rickson died of her injuries Thursday.
A white ghost bike is now chained to a sign near the intersection of SW Third and Madison. Someone also placed flowers at the site and a note that reads "Kathryn; you are already missed." SW Third and Madison is a bike box intersection. A new insurance study released this week says 65% of Portlanders understand how the bike boxes work. Police say the bike box did not play a part in Wednesday's accident because both the truck and bicyclist were moving as they approached the intersection at the same time.
