The Mayor and Reese address Occupy Portland
This morning, Portland Mayor Sam Adams and Police Chief Mike Reese will hold a press conference about Occupy Portland. We'll carry it live. Will they ask the campers to move out of Lownsdale and Chaman parks? Will a timeline be given for that removal or will it be a surprise? KXL is about a block away from the parks and will be there in minutes if this happens. It's clear police are getting frustrated with all the activity down there. Below is a sample of a daily rundown that we get from police every day. (Notice the overtime costs associated with the Occupy movement in Portland)
-----------------------------
This morning, Wednesday November 9, 2011, Portland Police officers arrested 29-year-old David Joseph Hodson for throwing a Molotov cocktail at the World Trade Center, located at 121 Southwest Salmon Street, in the late evening hours of Tuesday November 8.
On Tuesday November 8, 2011, Portland Police officers patrolling the Occupy Portland encampments at Chapman and Lownsdale Square parks continue to notice increasing verbal arguments between people in the parks.
21-year-old Justin Desantis was cited and excluded from Lownsdale Square Park for Alcohol in the Park.
31-year-old Shawn Kimmel was arrested for Disorderly Conduct in the Second Degree, Attempted Possession of Methamphetamine and Carrying a Concealed Weapon after officers contacted him about his aggressive behavior in Lownsdale Square.
Portland Fire & Rescue responded to Chapman Square Park on a medical assist call where a 26-year-old male was suffering from a drug overdose. The man was revived from his overdose and transported to an area hospital.
As of today, the Portland Police Bureau overtime expense related to Occupy Portland has reached $316,000.
