Former Oakland Raiders center Jim Otto joined host John Canzano Thursday afternoon on The Bald Faced Truth to talk about his legendary career, his famous injuries, and life after football.
Otto does not regret his many injuries throughout the years of his career. "I hit guys as hard as anyone hit anyone in the NFL. As a youngster I wanted to be the hardest hitting guy in the state of Wisconsin, in the University of Miami, and wherever I was. I wanted to be the toughest hardest hitting guy. Sure, I got concussions and things like that but I did it knowing that these things could happen to me."
Otto played through pain most of his career. "I just wanted to play football. Pain was part of my life, since high school even. I played with pain. Knowing how to how to use your body against the opponent with pain, with the injury. I just wanted to play football. That's what the Raiders and my university, my high school gave me the opportunity to play, that's what I wanted to do."
