Alicia reads a statement with supporters

October 25, 2012, 8:23 am

Dozens of supporters of a Northeast Portland woman who's fighting eviction from her home on Northeast Bryant Street staged an early morning rally.  Alicia Jackson reclaimed it from the bank during May Day protests.

Jackson has been battling the Portland Water Bureau and City Commissioner Randy Leonard over turning her water back on.  She's been using a porta potty in the meantime.  The city says she must vacate because the house is not safe without running water.

Jackson accuses the city of contributing to homelessness.  She claims its siding with the banks and home poachers while her foreclosure is still being challenged.  The water bureau will not work with Jackson because she's not the rightful owner.
