Through six weeks in the season, the Seattle Seahawks and the Denver Broncos look like the two best teams in all of the NFL. The NFL master himself, Greg Cosell, joined Chad on Flight 750 Friday to discuss his observations from the first six weeks of the season.Cosell insists that Seahawks' QB Russell Wilson, really doesn’t get the credit he deserves for his passing game.
“See that’s the most over-looked thing to me about Russell Wilson. Everybody’s so focused on his movement, he’s a really good thrower. He throws with really good velocity and he’s very accurate.”
Cosell also says that it’s nearly impossible to properly defend the Denver Broncos’ receivers.
“They have four receivers. You can’t double four receivers in the NFL. Really, the most you can double is two. That means, unless you are going to play pure zone, two other receivers are going to be singled up. So it’s very, very difficult to decide how to defend them and to pressure him. And sometimes, it’s a waste of time because he recognizes it pre-snap and the ball is out before the pressure even gets there, even if the players are unblocked.”
And finally Cosell talked about the Philadelphia Eagles and what they do once Michael Vick is cleared for contact.
“Do you stay with the quarterback as your starter who’s much better as a timing rhythm passer and gives your offense far more continuity in the pass game? Or do you go back to the quarterback who gives you a viable running threat, but is nowhere near as good in the timing rhythm pass game. This would become Chip Kelly’s first major decision if Foles plays well again this week.”
Take a listen to the great interview and be sure to tune in every Friday at 4:05 for Cosell’s weekly football clinic right here on Flight 750.
