Tualitan Hospital Uses New Tool To Kill Germs

Legacy Meridian Park Hospital in Tualatin is the first on the west coast to  use a new tool to kill dangerous bacteria. It is using a giant ultraviolet light to kill germs like MRSA that patients can pick up while in the hospital. The head of Surgical Services says it takes six minutes to clean a room and 35 minutes to sanitize an operating room. Meridian Park already has low infection rates. Last year it had not a single bloodstream infection in the I-C-U.
