PORTLAND -- The commute turned into a headache after three vehicles crashed on McLoughlin Boulevard/Highway 99E north of Tacoma Street just after 5:00 on Thursday morning.
One of the vehicles caught fire, critically injuring the driver.
"I should've been listening to KXL because it took me an hour and a half to get from Milwaukie to downtown, normally takes fifteen minutes. It's the worst back-up I've ever seen in Portland," said 750 The Game's Bernard Bokenyi.
The northbound lanes were closed for nearly five hours and the southbound lanes were affected for about an hour. Back-ups stretched far and wide on the neighborhood roads.
Public transit wasn't unscathed either as several buses that use McLoughlin to get into Portland had to detour, causing "major delays" according to TriMet.
