Hillsboro Baseball Team Named the Hops

The owners of Hillsboro's minor league baseball franchise have announced the team's name and logo.
The Hillsboro Hops will play at a new state-of-the-art 4,500-seat stadium along Highway 26 starting next June. They're a member of the Single A Northwest League after owners of the former Yakima Bears moved the team to Oregon.
The name pays homage to Hillsboro's proud agricultural heritage, recognizes a leading Oregon crop and tips its hat to a popular baseball term. Owners took suggestions from fans and selected a name that's never been used by a professional or college sports team.
The Hops are affiliated with Major League Baseball's Arizona Diamondbacks.
