Vandals Strike Four SE Portland Banks

A mob of 45 people materialized in SE Portland last night around nine o'clock and started throwing rocks and bottles through the windows of Umpqua Bank on SE Hawthorne. Sgt. Pete Simpson says the group hit at least four banks along Hawthorne and a Walgreen's Pharmacy before disbanding at Belmont. A few people were detained for questioning. But so far police say no one has been charged with anything. Police will look at surveillance footage and try to identify suspects.
