The Oregon Ducks are gearing up for their first true test of the season as they head up North to take on the number 16-ranked Huskies in Seattle. Ducks’ Defensive Coordinator Nick Aliotti joined Chad on Flight 750 Thursday to preview the big game between the Ducks and Huskies.Aliotti talked about the big improvements the Huskies have made on offense.
“Price is the engine that makes that thing run. Last year I think he had kind of an off year where he’s played at a much higher caliber this season. I really like the young man. He can extend plays with his feet. They have solid receivers. They have a big strong tight end and they have a good running game. So all in all, they have a lot of weapons.”
Aliotti also talked about what the Ducks must do if they want to win the game Saturday.
"I think the bottom line is we’ve just got to read our keys, stay in our gaps, and tackle. There’s no secret to that. We have to win the line of scrimmage with our D Line and our linebackers and then the first guy that gets there has to make the tackle and not miss the tackle. And then we’ll have to have a bunch of guys get to the ball so that we can get him tackled and hopefully get some strips and those kinds of things."
And finally, Coach Al talked about the great play of first-year starter Dion Jordan.
"Tony is definitely one of our leaders. When you lose a first-round draft pick like Dion Jordan, you don’t replace those guys. You’d like to say ‘Hey, we’ve got a guy that’s going to come in and replace those guys, but you don’t replace first round draft picks. Tony Washington has played as consistent as anybody on our defense. He’s not Dion because Dion was a special cat now, but he has been very, very solid in his play for the first five games. And I expect nothing more but for him to keep getting better and better."
The Ducks and Huskies kick off at 1:00pm right here on 750thegame.
