Convicted sex offender Adam Brown learned his sentence today for attacking a 10-year-old boy this past July. He'll spend over three decades behind bars after pleading guilty to ten counts including aggravated murder, sex abuse, strangulation and assault. In court, he said "I was twisted".
The victim and his family were returning from a trip and had a flat tire. They stopped at a tire shop, only to find it closed. The boy had to use the restroom and went alone into the Wendy's restaurant at Northeast 29th and Sandy.
Brown locked the door behind them, stabbed the boy several times and tried to sexually abuse him. He screamed and fought back, snapping Brown's knife in half. The boy's father got concerned at how much time was going by. He went inside and heard his son's screams. What he saw when he opened the door would terrify any parent. Customers held the door shut until police arrived. Brown claimed he had a gun, prompting a two-hour standoff.
Brown was on parole at the time of the attack, classified as a high risk offender. Court records show a long criminal record. In the early 90's, he was charged with a series of sexual assaults against children in Douglas County, exposing several to HIV. He was sentenced to 15 years in prison, but released after 11.
The boy's family said today that Brown did "not deserve to be alive" and the "real justice comes when you are judged by God to burn in hell."
