Child Killed In Car Crash

The aftermath / Tualatin Valley Fire and Rescue

An allegedly drunk driver killed a boy and injured his mother and brother Sunday night. A pick-up truck sideswiped two cars on Southwest Canyon Road near Linden just before 8:00, killing 10 year-old David Kardashov. 48-year-old Vera Kardashov is in critical condition with a lacerated spleen, large laceration to her left leg and multiple bruises and other lacerations. 15-year-old Alex was treated for minor bumps and bruises. Firefighters used heavy equipment to rescue them. Tualatin Valley Fire and Rescue says debris was spread over a quarter mile.

The driver who sideswiped the cars was arrested for suspicion of drunk driving. The people inside were not cooperative in identifying the driver. Eventually, 38-year-old Paige Couch of Vancouver was charged with manslaughter and assault. She's jailed on $250,000 bail.
