Thousands of runners and walkers took to the streets on October 6th for the 42nd Portland Marathon.
Race Director Les Miles says participants from 31 foreign countries and all 50 states were represented this year.
"The percentage of people who are coming in from outside of Portland is around 53-54 percent which makes for Portland's largest three day convention," Miles said.
That means 20-to-30 million dollars pumped into the local economy over the weekend.
There were some changes at the event as a result of the Boston Terror Attacks. First responders will needhad to identify themselves so police could quickly find them in case of an emergency. Also no backpacks were allowed.
The Marathon meant traffic detours for drivers and Trimet riders. The event began downtown at Southwest 4th and Taylor and ended at Southwest 3rd at the Justice Center.
