The Beavers are coming off a big win over the Colorado Buffaloes over the weekend thanks to a huge day from QB Sean Mannion in which he threw for 414 yards and six touchdowns. The quarterback joined Chad on Flight 750 Wednesday to talk about his great start to the 2013 season.
“I think it's just that I've continued to learn and gotten more and more experience. I think when you stack up all the kind of experiences from the first two years I got to play, I’ve learned to kind of eliminate some of the mistakes – That and continuing to improve on my accuracy has just really helped me this year.”
Mannion also talked about the role Coach Mike Riley has aided in his development.
"Obviously he’s one of the best coaches around. I’ve been really lucky to get to play for him. Over the last few years I’ve been able to really, really learn a lot. For him and Langs [Coach Langsdorf] to kind of teach me things and then being able to apply them on the field I think are a great luxury for me as a player."
And finally Mannion discussed that crazy flea flicker call at Utah.
“We were coming out of the timeout and we actually had another play called and Coach Riley kind of came running back into the huddle and told us we were going to run that. Not much was said, but everyone kind of looked around and we were like ‘Ok we better make this work.’ But in all honesty, I think that’s a really good situation to run a play like that. You’re going to catch them off guard, it’s a short yardage situation and it’s a good time to take a shot deep. Luckily for us we made it work and Teron had a great throw back to me and I just tried to get rid of it to Brandin.”
