15 Year Old Driver Kills Motorcyclist

A King City man is killed when a young driver with a learner's permit loses control of her S-U-V. Crash team investigators are still trying to figure out why the 15 year old driver veered off SW Roy Rogers Road, over corrected and crossed the center line, colliding with a man on a motorcycle Thursday night. Other drivers stopped to try to help 66 year old Dale Smith from King City but he died at the scene near the intersection of Scholls-Sherwood Road. The driver has been identified as Taylor Rutherford from Hubbard. A licensed driver was sitting in the front seat at the time and a passenger was in the back seat. None of them was injured. The accident shut down the road for four hours. No citations have been issued. The Washington County District Attorney's office will consider charges in the case.
