Solo power is back in the
news. The company owes the state thirty
million dollars for loans it took out…with promises of a solar power industry
in Oregon. The state even allowed
solo power to renegotiate its loans this year after defaulting on payments…the
kind of thing the state isn't likely to do for you and me.
And my bet is Oregon won’t get its money
back. Because solo power is also
building a brand new plant in South Korea.
It’s been Asian solar cells that have dominated the market. And get this…we’re hearing news of the plant
in late September and reports say solo power South Korea will be open in April of next year.
That’s a great example of
why industry doesn't come to Oregon or doesn't stay.
Oregon would take years to sign off on a site
for an industrial plant. Korea gets it
up and going in months. and your
money…consider it burned…and Governor Kitzhaber says he needs more.
