A Portland youth basketball coach is accused of assaulting one of his players. The boy was screaming for help from inside the suspect's apartment at Northwest 6th and Davis early on Sunday evening. That alerted neighbors who called 911. The 13-year-old boy was not seriously injured.
Officers knocked on the door of the apartment being rented by 54-year-old Leslie "Jerome" Lewis. He was arrested for kidnapping, assault, criminal mistreatment, using a child in display of sexually explicit conduct, and interfering
with making a police report.
Lewis has coached for Above the Rim, a basketball league that often plays on the courts at Woodlawn Park.
Investigators are concerned that Lewis may have taken advantage of his role with other victims. Tips should be forwarded to
Detective Mace Winter at (503) 823-0182.
