Avocado Milkshake

The Avacaod Milkshake---while growing up, my dad used to tell my sister and I about the avocado milkshakes he'd make and enjoy while growing up in Banning, California (home to very large avocado groves). It sounded weird to us at the time. However, now that avocados are recognized for their heart healthy nutritional attributes, here's a way to drink and enjoy this popular green fruit.

Ingredients:  1 ripe avocado peeled and pited, 2 cups of ice cubes (16-20), 1/2 cup sweetened condensed milk, 1 cup cold milk, 1 tsp. vanilla extract. (Optional-substitute vanilla ice cream for the condensed milk).

Preparation: Scoop the avocado flesh into a blender. Add the ice cubes, condensed milk, the least amount of non-fat milk; puree until completely smooth. Taste and add additional milk if a thinner consistency is desired. Pour into two (2) tall glasses and enjoy!
