Former NBA All-Star and Trail Blazer Kenny Anderson
dropped a bombshell on Friday in an interview on Portland's 750-AM The Game.
"I was molested as a child," the former NBA All-Star said, "and I go into details in the book."
Anderson's autobiographical book is titled "Instructions Not Included," and is due to be released next March. Anderson said he was twice sexually abused, first by a neighbor and later by a youth basketball coach. He said basketball saved his life, and that an inability to trust people became a theme in his early adult life.
Anderson has fathered eight children with five different women. He talked candidly on The Bald Faced Truth
"It stays with you," he said. "If I wasn't a basketball prodigy, I would have been done."
Anderson also talked about Trail Blazer point guard Damian Lillard and what advice he would give the young star.
"I would just tell him to keep doin' what he's doin'. Take care of yourself...don't get caught up with the NBA lifestyle."
He added for advice for Lillard: "Spend [your money] wisely."
Anderson was a member of the Portland Trail Blazers for the 1996-'97 season as well as part of the 1997-'98 season.
