Rodney Harrison played 14 seasons in the NFL with the San Deigo Chargers and New England Patriots and during that time he was a two-time Pro-Bowler and a two-time Super Bowl Champion. He joined Chad on Flight 750 Tuesday to analyze everything he has seen from the first couple weeks in the NFL.Harrison insists that the cut block needs to be disallowed by the NFL.
“If the NFL is really trying to protect – Not just offensive players but the defensive players too – You’ve got to take that out of the game. I think it’s just cheap. I think it’s a poor man’s excuse for a block. It’s a matter of guys being lazy. It’s the easy way out. These guys are both 300 pounds…These guys say, ‘It gives the defense an unfair advantage if the offensive line can’t cut block.’ I think it’s the most ridiculous thing.”
Harrison also talked about the great play of Peyton Manning from the first two games of the season.
“I love Peyton Manning. I think he’s terrific. He’s the best quarterback I’ve ever faced including Tom Brady, Dan Marino and John Elway.”
And lastly, Harrison discussed the great play from the Seattle Seahawks as they embarrassed the 49ers at CenturyLink Field on Sunday night.
“There’s not many teams like Seattle in the NFC. You look at the Saints, you look at Green Bay, but as far as a complete team that has a physical defense, the speed on offense, the speed on defense, that’s probably the best team in the league right now.”
Take a listen to the great interview and be sure to look and listen for Rodney Harrison every week on the NBC Sports Network.
