Seahawks Trounce 49ers in Home Opener

The Seahawks take Round 1 of the highly anticipated matchup between NFC West rivals, defeating the 49ers 29-3.
The Seattle defense - along with an hour long lightning delay - clamped down Colin Kaepernick and the rest of the 49ers offense, limiting the reigning NFC Champions to 207 yards of total offense.
Both teams were slow in the opening quarter, with the aforementioned lightning delay definitely having an effect, and the game was scoreless after the first 15 minutes.
The San Francisco offense finally got on the board with 10:44 in the second quarter, however the points were for the wrong team. Offensive lineman Bruce Miller was called for a holding penalty in the endzone, resulting in a safety and a 2-0 Seattle lead.
Seattle kicker Steven Hauschka would knock through a 30-yard FG later in the quarter and the Seahawks would go to the locker room with the unusual 5-0 lead.
The first touchdown of the game came on the opening drive of the second half when Marshawn Lynch capped a 10-play, 80-yard drive with a 14 yard scamper into the endzone.

The 49ers lone score would come later on in the third quarter when kicker Phil Dawson banged through a 21 yard field goal.
Seattle would assert themselves in the 4th quarter as the dominant team in the NFC West rattling off 17 points before the final whistle blew.
Those points would come off a Hauschka FG sandwiched between two more Lynch touchdowns to give the Seahawks the 29-3 lead at the end of the game.
Kaepernick was off the whole game, completing only 13 of 28 attempts for 127 yards and 3 INTs.
Part of his struggles contributed to his favorite target, Anquan Boldin, being unable to ever get open. Boldin finished with one catch for seven yards.
Wilson was off by his standards too. The sophomore signal-caller finished 8/19 for a 142 yards to go along with one touchdown and one INT.
Lynch finished them with 98 yards on the ground on 28 carries, 37 yards receiving, and three total touchdowns.
Seattle will host the Jacksonville Jaguars next on Sunday at Century Link Field.
