Oregon State is coming off its first win of the 2013 season and it’s gearing up for a huge conference matchup down in Utah versus the Utes. Stud wide receiver Brandin Cooks joined Chad on Flight 750 Wednesday to talk about the big win over Hawaii and the really big showdown in Salt Lake City.Cooks said that it was very important for the Beavers to get that first win under their belt.
“That was really good for the team to get that feeling of a win again. Those guys were really physical and good practice for Utah because we’re getting ready to go into another physical game. Hawaii gave us a great look as far as physicality, so it was great getting that win against them.”
Cooks also talked about the keys to the game versus Utah this weekend.
“We’re going to have to play smarter and we’re going to have to play fast because that defense is a tough defense. They pride themselves on big plays and big hits, so that’s what we’re looking forward to. It’s a tough road game going down to Utah and playing at night against those guys. So we’re going to have to prep our team for that and be mentally ready.”
And finally, Cooks talked about the incredible play from Sean Mannion to open up the season.
“He’s got that swagger back. He’s confident. He’s on fire and I don’t see that fire going out. With that being said, it’s going to take a lot for us from the perimeter, so I’m going to keep making plays for him.”
