17 year old Jake Lorenz turned his invention for school into a legitimate business. He invented the Jake Rake three years ago for his grandfather, who needed an all in one tool to help pack dirt in his horse arenas. At the same time, Lorenz needed a project for a school invention fair. He came up with the Jake Rake, and turned it into his own successful business. The tools are made locally in Forest Grove by a company that makes items for Intel. Lorenz is a senior this year and doesn't know what he'll do after graduation. He says he'll either stay with the business, especially if things continue to go well, or he'll go to college and become an engineer.
