Wildfire Near White Salmon 40% Contained

The Highway 141 wildfire burning north of White Salmon, Washington in the Gorge is now 40% contained.  It's burned 1,200 acres, and hasn't spread much in the past day.

A mandatory evacuation order affecting thirty to forty homes was lifted this afternoon.  Residents have been allowed to return to their homes, but they could have to leave at a moment's notice if the fire flares back up.

Crews are anticipating a change in the weather this weekend.  Winds are expected to shift from the east to the west.  

Over 400 firefighters and personnel are working on the front lines.
