Pair of Labor Day Water Rescues

Clackamas River at McIver Park

Two people were rescued after one of them got stuck against a log in the Clackamas River this afternoon. A woman was flipped off an inner tube into the chilly water upstream from McIver Park and the current sent her into the debris in an area of rapids, pinning her leg. She was not wearing a life jacket.
A man with her did have a life vest and kept her head above water until help arrived. Rescuers helped the woman put on a life jacket and escorted her to shore. She may have suffered a broken leg. Both were hypothermic from being in the water as long as they were. The temperature was in the mid 60's.
Meanwhile, on the Sandy River near the area where a
woman drowned on Sunday, a raft overturned, sending the rafters into the water near Camp Collins. They suffered cuts and bruises.
