Bill Moos Making New Facilities In NW

Washington State University Athletic Director Bill Moos joined John Canzano on The BFT Wednesday afternoon to discuss the upcoming 2013 season and the role new athletic facilities are playing in college sports.
Moos was the University of Oregon director of athletics from 1995-2007 and played a key role in the expansion of Autzen Stadium in 2002.
“Initially, our first design, we were going to add more than…14,000 seats,” he said. “And our consultants suggested, ‘Hey, maybe you want to look into building some suites instead because your market is showing there is a desire and market for that.'
“We added 32 suites or so and they were all sold out within six months.”
Washington State, according to Moos, has also been committing significant money into revamping its own facilities.
“We have $130 million of new facilities…The debt service on that is nearly $10 million a year which is being serviced by the television contract with ESPN and FOX which is roughly $20-21 million a year on average.”
Moos, a Washington State graduate, returned to eastern Washington as the Athletic Director in 2010.
