Mike Riley "Real Close" To Selecting QB

Oregon State head coach Mike Riley joined John Canzano on The Bald Faced Truth Thursday afternoon to talk about his team’s upcoming Pac-12 season.
Riley noted that he would miss former wide receiver Markus Wheaton, but that he takes a shared pride in Wheaton’s college career.
“I do, but I think he should the most, because he was diligent, he was fun to coach. As a guy on the field, he would listen and learn, then take it to the field and work on it. I think that’s what [Pittsburgh] sees in him.”
As for whether Sean Mannion or Cody Vaz will start for the Beavers, Coach Riley said,
“They’re both good players, at any one time in their lives here they would have easily been starters. We’ve ended up here in a pretty good place, but with a tough decision. That old adage that ‘if you have two quarterbacks, you don’t have any,” I don't think that’s true.”
Riley went on to say that he is “real close” to selecting a starter.
Oregon State starts their season against Eastern Washington University at home on August 31st.
