The Portland woman who says she was kicked out of a Broadway Cab on the side of Interstate 84 because she's lesbian is speaking for the first time since the 911 calls were released.
Kate Neal says she and her partner were with a friend going home after drinking downtown last Thursday night. She says after about fifteen minutes, the driver started yelling homophobic slurs. They asked to be dropped off somewhere safer, but the cabbie wouldn't. Another driver also refused to take them home.
The were left on the side of the freeway near 102nd Avenue and had to scale a fence into the neighborhood before flagging down an officer who took them home.
