$975,000 of insurance money will go to rebuild the charred
View Point Inn. Owner Geoff Thompson says that's only a fraction of what it will cost to completely repair the historic structure in Corbett.
Two contractors have gone to the property to see what needs to be done. Thompson says he'll use initial funds to close up the roof by the end of October. Winning a lawsuit against Traveler’s Insurance could give the inn a second chance. It will cost about $2 Million to completely restore it.
Another battle comes from Multnomah County, which could revoke a conditional use permit. Thompson says he intends to pay back all the brides the money they're owed after weddings had to be cancelled following last summer's fire.
If things go as planned, the View Point Inn could be open by Memorial Day 2013.
