A crime spree that started in Southwest Portland early this morning ended miles away out east in Fairview.
There were reports of a man with a large hunting knife wearing an eye patch breaking windows near the Multnomah Athletic Club. He went inside and told employees there were people with guns on the street. Witnesses say he was tweaked out and acting crazy. Then police say he carjacked a delivery driver at Southwest 16th and Jefferson.
The van hit a bicyclist at 4th and Columbia and nearly hit another cyclist while speeding off. The rider was not hurt.
He was spotted speeding through North Portland moments later and hit a guardrail near Lombard and Mississippi.
Within a half hour, a van crashed into the Columbia Slough at 223rd and Marine Drive. 29-year-old James Badgley was arrested in a field. He's charged with robbery and failing to perform the duties of a driver.
