A 70 lb pit bull dog attacking 2 woman and another dog was shot and killed by police Tuesday morning in McMinnville. Celeste Burnham was attempting to shield a smaller dog from the attack, while the owner of the dog, Amanda McCommons, attempted to intervene and was also attacked by the dog.  As the officer approached, the dog broke free from the owner and turned aggressively towards the officer, who had to shoot the dog three times to stop any further attacks.  The dog died at the scene. Celeste had minor injuries to her leg and Amanda had a broken arm and serious lacerations to her arms and fingers.  The smaller dog involved was taken by an unknown bystander to a vet clinic for minor injuries sustained from the attack. The incident remains under investigation by the McMinnville Police Department in conjunction with Yamhill County Dog Control.
