If you listened to the Bald Faced Truth with John Canzano you know that Mike Wells, of the Indianapolis Star and Jason Quick of The Oregonian, joined the show Monday to talk Roy Hibbert, his travel habits and the Blazers options in free agency.

With increasing suggestion that Hibbert will remain in Indy, Wells said “ I didn’t think that Indianapolis would match Portland’s offer’. However Wells believes that the decision to match Portland’s offer was not fiscal in nature, rather, he believes they intend to rebuild the team through continuity. Wells continued by detailing the events surrounding Hibberts trip to Portland, offering the fact that Roy was in airport security when he got a call letting him know that Portland’s offer would be matched, and to turn around.

Wells discussed the speculative nature of his opinions, due to Indiana’s gag order in regards to the Hibbert deal. However, with intimate knowledge of both Indiana as a market and Hibbert as a player, Wells’ provided the best known information. In a twist that may leave Blazer fans with a strange feeling, Wells talked about Kevin Pritchard's role in Indiana’s basketball operations and the way that manifested through this deal. “Kevin has been busy on the phones’, Wells said continuing by offering his belief that had the Hibbert deal gone through he believes that Chris Kaman would have been plan B. Sound familiar blazer fans? John left Wells with a standing offer of a trip to Portland hotspot Voodoo Doughnuts, and we are left with a continued search for a big man of the immediate future.
