Nine condos at One Lake Place on Northeast 121st Avenue in Vancouver were damaged or destroyed by flames on Tuesday evening.
Sixteen adults and children are now homeless. The Red Cross is helping the victims with what they need to get back on their feet.
Flames burned through the roof of the three-story complex. The entire building was evacuated. The damage is said to be extensive and the building may have to be gutted.
It took five hours to get the blaze under control. Crews stayed on the
scene well into the morning to make sure it didn't flare back up. Investigators are sifting through the rubble and interviewing witnesses, which could take quite some time.
The condos that weren't completely destroyed suffered fire, water and smoke damage, ruining most of everything inside.
