Bender Moved On From The NBA
July 3, 2013, 3:08 pm
Former Indiana Pacers forward Jonathan Bender
joined John Canzano on The Bald Faced Truth Wednesday afternoon to discuss his playing career and the transition from player to business entrepreneur.
Bender was drafted into the NBA right out of high school in 1999, and played until 2010. He said he felt the decision to skip college was the right thing to do, calling the chance to play in the NBA a “once in a lifetime opportunity.” Bender knew that many players struggled when they were first out of the league, especially when they wanted to start working in business but had no real ideas.
“Having money when you’re first coming out is kind of dangerous because you don’t know what to look for,” said Bender. “If you haven’t built a business or built some sort of process yourself, you’re just some guy with a bunch of money.”
Bender also discussed Portland as an NBA city and his new product that he invented called the JB Intensive Trainer. More information on the trainer can be found at www.jbintensive.com
