R.A. Dickey of the New York Mets became the first pitcher in more than twenty years to throw back-to-back one-hitters. The pitcher to achieve this feat before Dickey was Dave Stieb, then a pitcher for the Toronto Blue Jays. Former MLB pitcher Dave Stieb joined the Bald Faced Truth with John Canzano to talk about pitching at a high level in Major League Baseball. Stieb and Canzano kick off the conversation talking about Dave’s current business endeavor as a contractor and doing construction work in Reno, NV. John asks Dave whether or not he gets the same buzz from building new homes as he did as a pitcher. Stieb tossed back-to-back one-hitters in 1988 and also tossed a no-hitter in 1990. Stieb talks about those experiences and what the mood was like in the stadium and on the field. Stieb’s biggest rival in the 1980’s was pitcher Jack Morris who was the only pitcher in that decade to have more wins than Stieb.
