After a 22-year old overdosed on Heroine in a southeast Portland home, Police make a huge drug bust. Portland Police SGT Pete Simpson says they were following up on a lead to the death of a 22-year old woman. The investigation lead officers to the home of 33-year-old David Caserez-Arredondo at 6624 Southeast 72nd Avenue. Arredondo gave Portland Police permission to enter after answering his door. When inside Portland Police found large amounts of narcotics, cash, weapons, and stolen goods. Authorities seized approximately four pounds of heroin, one pound of cocaine, one pound of methamphetamine, $180,000 in cash, two handguns, and two vehicles, a 2003 Honda Odyssey van and a 2003 Dodge Caravan. In addition to the seizure of $120,000 in drugs, Simpson says they recovered various scales, packaging material and other evidence to suggest that the suspect was heavily involved in drug trafficking. Investigators are led to believe Caserez-Arredondo was smuggling drugs in from California using fire extinguishers that were tampered with to store narcotics.
