A concoction of an un-named bartender at Shoomaker's Bar in Washington DC, the story is that the Col. in need of refreshment from the summer heat, asked the bartender to fix him the house specialty. Enjoying what he drank, he ordered additional reinforcements, The bartender, impressed with the Army official's rate of consumpton, named the drink after him....The Gin Rickey! 
Ingredients: 2oz dry gin, 6oz. club soda, juice of one lime. Lime wedge or twist for garnish.
Preparation: In a highball glass filled with ice, add the gin, club soda and lime juice. Stir and garnish.
