Former 4-time NBA All-Star Otis Birdsong joined The Bald Face Truth today to discuss his career, as well as his upcoming appearance at the Portland charity event, Caddies 4 Cure
Otis Birdsong who was the 2nd overall pick in the 1977 draft was at no loss for words when discussing his take on the Golden State Warriors and their potential to crush the San Antonio Spurs in the Western Conference Semi-Finals, “The Thompson kid, and Stephen Curry, you’re talking about a huge upside. They are phenomenal and I just think they have too much youth and too much speed for San Antonio. I really think they will win the series, they should be up 2-0 in-fact.”
Birdsong also shared his feelings on Golden State Warriors head coach Mark Jackson, “I respect Mark he was a heck of a player. He was a coach on the floor, so I knew he would be a great head coach. I didn’t know he could get Golden State turned around that fast.”
Birdsong also spoke about the Caddies 4 Cure charity and why it’s important, “Children are a great passion of mine, I’m very fortunate that I’m from a family of 12 and my mom has almost 70 grand children. I love kids. I have 5 of my own and 7 grand kids. Anything I can do to give back and help a child, I’m on board.”
Additionally, Birdsong discussed the reigning Rookie of the Year Damian Lillard, “[Lillard] is absolutely phenomenal. [Lillard] just came out of nowhere, this kid is so fundamentally sound, he plays with so much confidence, he’s smart, he has such a huge upside and I hope he stays healthy [because] he has a great career ahead of him.”
