Two large rocks that wound up on the Max tracks in Beaverton early Thursday morning likely came from a landscaping site near the Millikan Way stop. TriMet says someone trespassed into a restricted area to put them there.
An eastbound train ran over one of the rocks 12" in diameter, damaging the hydraulic line. It took one of the train cars out of service for repairs.
TriMet has offered a reward of $1,000 to find whoever is responsible. They face charges of criminal mischief.
"When the person or persons responsible are found they will be prosecuted to the fullest extent of the law," said TriMet Safety and Security Executive Harry Saporta.
The damage is around $20,000 and TriMet says they will seek restitution.
