The Oregon State Beavers just started their spring practices and are in the midst of a fierce quarterback competition. Beavers Head Coach Mike Riley joined Chad on Flight 750 Wednesday to discuss all the story lines of the Spring.Riley said that the coaching staff just finished up one of its most important periods of the year- The time between Signing Day and Spring football.
“We have all our video from the year cut up into segments, whether it’s third down, red zone, first and ten or formationally…So we study that and we look at what’s real, what was good for us and we look at what we need to do better or have differently…It’s a valuable time to kind of look at how you can get better.”
He also talked about the quarterback competition between Sean Mannion and Cody Vaz.
“I’m thankful for both of them. I think it’s very important to have a couple guys that you know can play and win and then we’ll worry about the end result of that competition later because it’s way too close to call right now and they’ve both been doing really well.”
And finally, coach Riley talked about his new, favorite NFL team.
“To have two tailbacks on the same team that are both very good players, very good guys and great representatives of Oregon State, we’re certainly proud of that. It will be fun to watch the Falcons.”
Take a listen to the interview and be sure to tune into 750thegame every day for all the latest on the Beavers.
