Satrurday, April 8,2001 @ 12:06PM, an exciting new chapter in Portland radio began, as a short, fat, bespeckled smoke lover opened his KXL microphone for the very first time to kick off Cooking Outdoors With Mr. Barbecue.
Since then, I've had the pleasure to introduce Northwest listeners (and with podcasts--people all around the world) to some of the infamous and most famous smoke and fire masters in the world of barbecuing, grilling and smoking.
I've always been amazed at the shear number of people who listen not only to KXL, but this weekly show. Random encounters with listeners, who recognize "the voice" or name, and introduce themselves as fans of the show. Even after all these years at KXL, and in radio in general, I am astounded at the size of the KXL and Cooking Outdoors audience.
As I begin my 12th year on the air, I sincerely, humbly and with a heap of gratitude, want to thank the listeners and supporters of this show, our advertisers and my "family" at KXL and Radio NW stations for your support and loyalty to the show. Here's to another 12 years! KEEP ON SMOKIN' BABY!
