A woman was injured when a driver heading the wrong way on I-205 near Vancouver crashed his company's semi truck into her car head-on early this morning.
Police say 49-year-old Kenneth Burgess was drunk when he got on I-84 near Troutdale going west in the eastbound lanes. Drivers started calling 9-1-1 and police were headed to catch up with Burgess.
He was already north in the southbound lanes of 205 on the Glenn Jackson Bridge when he hit the victim's car. She was treated at the hospital and released. A patrol car was damaged by flying debris.
The accident caused big headaches for the morning commute out of Vancouver with two lanes blocked at times. It took some drivers three hours or longer to get past the scene. All lanes were open around 10:00am, some five and a half hours later.
Burgess was driving for TWT Refrigerated Service of Spokane. He's charged with DUII, reckless driving and criminal mischief.
