Deputies Chase Down Stolen Truck

Marion County Sheriffs deputies say they have arrested the 23-year old responsible for stealing the Ford F-150. He was first spotted soon after the truck was stolen by the brother of the owner on Highway 22. The truck was stolen around 1:00PM in Salem. Deputies chased the truck on snowy roads at speeds in excess of 70-miles an hour. The chase went through Lyons, Gates and Mill City. Eventually the suspect, Robert Atkinson crashed into a tree and took off running. Atkinson wouldn't surrender and police released a K-9 would found him face down in a cave near a creek. He was taken to a Salem hospital after suffering a dog bite on his neck... Atkinson faces a multiple charges, including unlawful use of a motor vehicle, eluding police, possession of stolen property that was found in the truck and a parole violation from Marion County.
