The nearly all-day standoff with a wanted fugitive at a motel on the Oregon Coast is over. 26-year-old Michael Boysen had been tracked to the Westshore Oceanfront Motel in Lincoln City where he reportedly checked in Monday night.
The hotel was evacuated and nearby residents were told to stay inside until it was all over.
Boysen is accused of murdering his grandparents in their Renton, Washington home just hours after being released from prison for robbery. They hosted a welcome home party and offered him a room to stay in.
Friends have identified the victims as Robert and Norma Taylor. The couple in their eighties were killed sometime overnight Friday and authorities say Michael then stole their car.
Detectives say Boysen talked about killing his grandparents and getting guns to kill police once free. He apparently searched the Internet for gun shows.
Boysen reportedly received what police are describing as self inflicted wounds Tuesday evening before being taken into custody.
