Three skiers are dead after they were crushed in an avalanche at Stevens Pass in Washington. The men were all expert skiers but when they came over a ledge in an out of bounds area of the ski resort, they were carried 14 hundred feet down the mountain by the avalanche. Other skiers managed to dig them out and perform CPR but it was too late. Two of the victims have been identified. 30 year old Chris Rudolph was director of marketing services for Stevens Pass ski resort. 46 year old Jim Jack from Leavenworth was a judge of competitive freeskiing events. A fourth person also caught in the avalanche survived by deploying an airbag device she carried in her backpack. She's been identified as Elyse Saugstad, a professional skier.
